White Paper “Digital Twins im Anlagen-Lebenszyklus”

The DTZ Salzburg white paper collects concepts for digital twins across the plant lifecycle — fundamentals, standards and practical examples.

Summary

Virtualising plants, products and processes is a central building block of digitalisation in industrial manufacturing. The concept of digital twins plays an increasingly important role in this: digital twins create a digital image of the real objects in the industrial value creation process and make it possible to describe plants in information technology terms across their entire lifecycle.

The white paper “Digital Twins im Anlagen-Lebenszyklus” summarises the concepts for digital twins gathered and implemented at the DTZ: alongside the conceptual foundations of digital twins in the plant lifecycle, it also presents examples of how they are applied in industrial practice. The contributions were selected according to the respective professional background of the authors: the thematic focus lies on applications in the development and commissioning phase on the one hand, and on their use in the operating and maintenance phase of plants on the other. A contribution on the fundamental categorisation of digital twins, an overview of the relevant standards and a bibliography for further reading on the subject of digital twins round off the report.
